The Trump administration will expand the "Mexico City" policy, which traditionally bans U.S. foreign aid for organizations that support abortion care, to organizations that support diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts, as well as transgender rights (or, in the administration's words, "gender ideology").

The administration's changes to the policy are set to coincide with the annual anti-abortion March for Life, which takes place in Washington, D.C. on Friday, January 23.

Typically reinstated when a Republican president enters office and rescinded when a Democrat enters, the policy previously only affected funds related to "family planning assistance," totalling around $600 million of aid, per The Guardian. However, the Associated Press reports that the Trump administration's expanded version would apply to over $30 billion in foreign aid, including both U.S.-based aid organizations and international programs. The move comes just a day after the government formally withdrew from the World Health Organization.

"This is so incredibly cruel," Keifer Buckingham, managing director for the Council for Global Equality, wrote in a text to the New York Times. "It really is about forcing governments or NGOs or international organizations to sign on to an extreme ideological agenda, even denying that transgender or nonbinary people EXIST, just to get US funds to provide what is often lifesaving services or programs."

The second Trump administration has routinely targeted trans rights and gender-affirming services within the United States. Over the past year, the government has threatened to withhold federal funds from schools that support trans-inclusive policies in the classroom and in sports, and from hospitals that provide gender-affirming care to minors.

Yes unfortunately nothing will change unless some series changes happen with our elected officials, which if they jump on the trump band wagon they will be protected by the administration. So we're screwed.

And I'm sure they already have plans to keep people from voting. Either with the safe act that target women whose last name doesn't match their birth certificate or with having ice goons at voting centers to "protect the peace", when really they are there for intimidation and or just detaining anyone not registered as a Republican when they go to vote. So again we lose.

The world just needs to bomb the ->-bleeped-<- out us already. Get it over with.
