I don't know if this is my mind playing tricks on me or if this is actually a thing.

I know hrt definitely works better when there is the right nutrition behind it. Enough of the right nutrition I guess. Which I why I know some individuals implement fat cycling.

What I am noticing is that when I am in a surplus of calories and I am on the fluffier side, it definitely helps my breast and butt, but I feel I lose what ever visual feminine traits that have been slowly working and changing on my face.

When I'm in a calorie deficit I notice my breast and butt don't seem as full (for obvious reasons) but when I am leaning out I feel my face looks visually more feminine than when it has extra fat on it.

Has anyone experienced this. I feel this is the opposite of what typically happens for most with fat redistribution.

I love how much more I feel my face looks feminine when I'm leaner than when I'm carrying more weight, which again seems to be the opposite of what's usually being reported happening for others

I guess when it comes to my weight I've learned that moderation is key. If you're too skinny not only is it bad for your health but it's also going to affect your appearance (and likewise if you're too heavy.)

I think you just need to find that balance that works for you.

As someone who has had wild fluctuation in weight (24 stone - 12 stone - 19 stone and falling again) I have had generous brest development (40DD) and am getting fat redistribution on legs and thighs, I have the classic "saddlebag" type upper thigh, the legs are more shapely and I've definitely had female fat deposit on my face as it's changed quite noticably.

Whether that would have happened anyway, I can't say but there is a lot of evidence pointing in the direction of a bit of weight being beneficial during transition.

However, I am not a goood example and I do not advocate ending up where I was and am now. It is not healthy, it is debilitating and it impacts on my activities and also my ability to get nice clothes. Maybe up to half a stone might be better if you are trying it but think carefully as loosing weight on HRT is proving to be far more dificult.

I definitely saw a huge change in the shape of my face when I started HRT. I also curbed alcohol consumption which I believe contributed to a less puffy face. I'm thin anyway so slight changes in weight are very noticeable especially in breast size.

So if you ever notice a bodybuilder dieting for a show they get to a point where their face is extremely lean, they look like they have sunken eyes and kind of a hallow look to their face, that's kind of what I'm talking about but not to that extreme .

I am by no means anywhere close to being that lean, and haven't been since my last bodybuilding show over 14 years ago, but I just feel my face looks more feminine when I'm on the leaner side or have been fasting a Bit, vs having higher calorie days when I'm in a surplus.

My body itself doesn't fluctuate that much, and it seems to just be going with the flow slowly allowing hrt to do its thing. But again not sure why but I feel my face looks more feminine when I'm leaner.

Maybe it has to do with being able to see more cheekbone than when there is more fat on my face who knows...

My upper thighs have a decent amount of muscle left on them same for my butt, but (lol) there is def a bit more giggle when I'm doing cardio which I find myself smiling inside about. As for breast they don't seem to be all that affected either from low calorie days, there is def enough breast tissue that has grown where I have to wear sports bras during cardio or there is enough mass to move or my giggle when running it's uncomfortable for the duration of it.

Anyways I was just wondering if anyone else has felt they think their face is more feminine when it's leaner, since I have always been under the impression it should be the opposite.

You know your own face, we have nothing to compare it with but I would say that I think women tend to have rounder apple like cheeks due to fat deposits rather than lean boney cheeks.

However, it does depend on what you view as being the ultimate look in femininity as cat walk models tend to have more lean bodies and faces. personally I don't find that a good healthy look and prefer to aim towards a more everyday appearance (plus there's no way I'm getting my weight down that low without becoming anorexic!)

I would point out that a lot of the body fat changes that I have had have happened around the three-four year mark so don't expect rapid miracles.

I don't think there is any right or wrong answer here as it's more about how you view yourself in the mirror. Do what makes you feel right, it doesn't really matter what others think, it's you who is important.

I honestly can't say HRT done anything apart from some moderate breast growth and very slight body hair reduction. I'm only 11 months so not sure how long it really takes. I'm planning to eat as much fatty food as possible if it does start to goto the right places!

It will have changed you more than you realise Charlotte, It's often so subtle though. Plus it's not just the appearance changes either, there are emotional changes, skin softness and many others. I think it can change your mindset. Hell they say it can even brighten your eye colour.

Give it time honey, 11 months in is still very early days.
