Do you like going to buffets or having buffet style meals?

Perhaps an Asian buffet or a seafood buffet or a brunch buffet or at a conference having a buffet style luncheon or maybe one of those steak plus more food buffets or...?

They might cause some people to overeat, as the all you can eat buffets may entice some to "get more for their money."

This might be a UK thing but no, not keen.

I don't like cold butter so that rules the sandwiches out, I don't like quiche with onion in and so many people do that, I can't risk it. I'm not a fan of cold cheese and I always try to avoid going up early in case anyone thinks I'm a fat pig! By the time I get up there all the best bits have been taken. Vol au vents are pot luck too.

Going out to a restaurant type buffet might be slightly better but I always think the food is just warm not hot and I have to question the safety/hygiene of leaving food out in a bain marie for that long.

A carvery buffet on the other hand is excellent.

I don't mind if it's not busy so I can get around without queing or people in my way. For some reason queuing causes me to get stressed and irritable and even more so if people are in the way!

Enjoyed the last one I went to in Blackpool. There was Indian,Thai,Chinese,Mexican etc. A few weeks later I read it got zero stars from the health inspection and was shut down immediately! I must have been  immune to it but plenty people  had the Brad Pitts after a night in there!

Avoid Disney parks then.  Too many lines or queues.  Crowds too.

You couldn't pay me to go to a Disney Park! Looks like hell on earth!

Someone showed me a huge pile of snow crab legs that he had at an unlimited buffet.
It was truly an impressive shell pile.  He said he paid around $45 but he must have had more than $60 worth of crab legs. So he thought it was a good deal for him.

I wonder how much food waste there is at some buffets.

That would include the food people put on their plates and cannot take home, so what they do not eat is wasted.

That would also include what has to be thrown out at closing time.  I suppose some can be safely used the next day if food safety rules are followed.

Of course, that applies at non buffet restaurants too.  You wonder if food is recycled into other menu items the next day.  Maybe unserved fried chicken is picked apart and put into the chicken soup? Likely so.

There is/was a seafood buffet in Branson Missouri called whipersnappers. When ever we could get there I'd take my wife and kids. Having a shellfish allergy, the last time almost killed me. I went outside and took some benadryl and had to wait for my wife. She had the kids come out and check on me. She was concerned  ut they had lobster tails 😳
