That's good advice. It doesn't have to be an hour-long seven-course meal. Just go for ice cream, sit, and enjoy it. As Charlotte said, most people are not paying attention. They are in their own little world, and you are not a part of that. Be brave, Little Sister. Walk in like you own the place, and everyone will assume you do (except the owners).

Just do something small. Go out and set in a café with a coffee or tea. Read the news. Just do that a few times then get a pastry one day. If it get overwhelming take the pastry home. You don't have to scream I'm here alone. Just enjoy a nice day or some kind of win in your life. You don't have to do it the first time, just getting into the mind set I want to do this will open you up.

I don't have much self esteem or confidence for a multitude of reasons. I'm a bit broken on that front to be fair. I'm a solitary creature.

Self esteem is a myth. Everyone has low self esteem, it's just how they hide it. You are beautiful and smart you deserve happiness. Always know you have friends that love you.
My father told me that he and my mom where raising my brother different because they felt they made mistakes with me. I was a teen at the time. That's a self esteem crusher.
When you are ready you will be fabulous.

You've still got to do things at your pace and that make you happy however. Please dont feel like I'm ever saying you should be a certain way,  as i know how tough it is when your mind is telling you something. Whats easy for one is impossible for another. But I'm here if you ever need encouragement or anything to help you along. We'll all get there...in our own time...our own way 🙂

Always stay cheerful, be polite, kind, and understanding. Accepting yourself as the woman you are is very liberating.  Never underestimate the appreciation and respect of authenticity.  Help connect a person to someone that may be able to help that person.  Be brave, be strong.  A TRUE friend is a treasure.  Relationships are very important, people are important, and the sooner we all realize that the better off the world will be.  Try a little kindness.  Be generous with your time, energy, wisdom, and resources.   Inconvenience yourself to help someone.   I am a brown eyed, brown haired woman.

Apart from being too shy for that, I would feel like I'm table blocking. I don't even go into cafe's on my own. It's silly really, Single people have a right to enjoy the nice things in life too.

I travel for work quite a lot, If I didn't go to a restaurant alone I would starve. You get used to it pretty quick, no one looks or cares if its just you at a table. If I want to be left alone I sit at a table and if I want to chat or be quick I sit at the bar or counter. There are always single seats at the counter and someone who asks if my English accent is Australian.

Thats what I have been doing since I got back to the UK to get used to going out dressed as Philippa.
I often go to a coffee shop where I am a regular, in the morning and sit with a coffee and croissant and read the news. Its usually full of single people with laptops anyway. I wear my Tshirt dress and leggings so it looks like I'm being sporty. No one has shown any sign they noticed.

Thanks ladies. It's appreciated. I'm a bit of an emotional wreck at the moment. The loneliness is getting on top of me a bit here. I'm not much company so I think I'm going to turn in and try again tomorrow. Sorry if I'm being a bit of a debbie downer.

I don't know what came over me last night. I cried non stop for an hour and a half last night. I'm normally pretty upbeat. I think the enormity of having to deal with all this on my own just got to me a bit. Plus I might still be suffering a bit of a panic hangover from Friday.

I like to try to lift other people up on here and make them smile if I can, I'm not very good when I'm in the doldrums like last night. I don't like to post my woes on here if I can help it. Sorry for being miserable.

The sun is shinning this morning. I have a lecture at 12:00-14:00 which gives me some focus for the day so hopefully I will be a bit brighter.

A bit late to this post but first time I went out to the shops I thought everyone would stare, not a look or glance! Be positive and no one will notice.I am a loner as well, always been happy in my own company as long as I have something to occupy my brain.

I have always been happy being alone with myself but until a few years ago I did have a circle of friends I could go to the pub with and unwind but after covid (people don't go out as much anymore it seems) and after an unreconcilable bustup with one of my oldest friends (I still don't know why), I have ended up with just a single friend left. I think being on here and being chatty to everyone and getting to know people and share my thoughts and feelings has made realise how alone I am IRL. It just gets on top of me from time to time.

It's nothing to do with being out as I'm not actually doing that right now but that is a looming challenge in itself. A lot of people on here have significant others in their lives and it makes me a little bit sad that I don't have that and never have had that. I go through phases like this but I'll be ok in a bit Davina. Going through transition with no one around you is a scary prospect is all. Thanks for the pep talk though, it's appreciated😀
