The bros would love to call them the shelias which is part of the reason our national multicultural tv station jumped in to call them the Matildas first

They are our most loved and followed sporting team which another reason why the bros hate them so much.

The matildas is a way better name than the mens soccerroos.

NEwcastle united womens team is on a massive drive to get up to the top league. THey are rather unimaginativly referred to as "The lasses" as in "Haway the lasses!" THey gone from total obscurity the the womens second division since 2022 when tehy were brought under the wing of NUFC proper. Even in those lower leagues they were attracting gate receipts of over 26,000 whcih was unheard of in lower leagues and on par with the womens premier league.

Thw womens game is slower but one of the best things about it is the women don't roll around on the floor after every tackle screaming like a ...well, a little girl ha ha!

Do you have nearby castles?  I liked visiting castles.
Always stay cheerful, be polite, kind, and understanding. Accepting yourself as the woman you are is very liberating.  Never underestimate the appreciation and respect of authenticity.  Help connect a person to someone that may be able to help that person.  Be brave, be strong.  A TRUE friend is a treasure.  Relationships are very important, people are important, and the sooner we all realize that the better off the world will be.  Try a little kindness.  Be generous with your time, energy, wisdom, and resources.   Inconvenience yourself to help someone.   I am a brown eyed, brown haired woman.

Well I've been putting a few of the local ones on my blog Chrissy. So far I've done Warkworth, Bothal, Duntanburgh and Alnwick Castles. Newcastle is named after the "new castle' that was built by William the conqueror's son Robert. The castle keep, and one of the gates still remains today though the Victorians shamelesly built railway bridges right through the site. I'll not bother taking pictures of it as it's not very photogenic. The keep itself is in excellent condition with all it's original rooms still intact. You get a great view of the city from the battlements as it overlooks all seven famous Newcastle bridges.

Yes Castlemorton the parish I was dragged up in is named after a motte and bailey that is just a mound now, it would have been a wooden watch tower of sorts. Looks over a back road now but the area would have been marsh and that road may have been only way through. The church close by is Norman, well before the Victorians got at it!

Yeah UK place name etymology is fascinating. The town of Morpeth where I work literally means murder or death path. This is thought to be because when you travelled further North the border rievers (clan like, lawless families that were fiercely agressive) were notorious for ambushing, robbing and murdering travellers on their way to Scotland. Those rievers are why Northumberland has so many Bastle Houses and Pele Towers. It was a real wild frontier back then. I do wonder if that is what Game of Thrones bases it's "wildlings" on. The wild clans just North of Hadrians wall!
