Thanks Tammy, in all honesty, I think the legs are the least of my concerns right now!

When she said she was sending me for the pelvic scan she was mumbling something about it's common for women because of their different organs. I just looked at her thinking what are you prattling on about! I was presenting male, did she think I had magically grown ovaries! It did not inspire confidence!

Lack of correct training, when I went to docs a while ago she had 3 training students with her so they got an insight in how things are. BTW they were all good with it.

Has anyone else here suffered with Hyperlordosis and anterior pelvic tilt problems? apparently it can be related to HRT. I have had it for quite some time (3 years at least) and I now think it could be behind many of my aches, pains and nerve issues. Possibly even the fluid issue too. Just wondered if anyone else has had this? Apparently it is fixable by specific exercises and weight training. Curious if anyone has done this?

I just have neck, back and hip issues.

I try and exercise as best as possible but stretcing and core strenthening are really, really important.

I have heard this claim before a few times, and I have found zero evidence that it is caused by hormones (HRT or naturally produced).

An anterior pelvic tilt and lumbar hyperlordosis happen when the front of the pelvis drops forward and downward, creating an exaggerated, arched-inward curve in the lower back. This postural alignment often stems from a combination of prolonged sitting, tight hip flexors, and weak abdominal or gluteal muscles.

Common Causes and Symptoms

Tight Muscles: Chronically short hip flexors (like the psoas and rectus femoris) and tight lower back extensors pull the pelvis forward.

Weak Muscles: Inactive or under-engaged glutes, hamstrings, and deep core stabilizers fail to hold the pelvis in a neutral position.

Lifestyle Factors: Long hours spent sitting at a desk shorten the front hip complex.

Here is how to fix it:

Thanks for the tips! I wasn't too worried about it but the penny has just dropped that it could be the cause of so many of my issues Dr google seemed to suggest HRT played a role hence the question on here to see if anyone had successfully fixed it with excercise. I think mine is because I'm overweight and have been carrying a lot of weight on my front ie oversided belly and boobs. I have been active and have done manual jobs up until my current one so it's not a sitting at the desk thing. My fitness levels were pretty good up until around 2022 then I started piling the weight on. The problems started for me about 3 years ago.

I haven't "fixed" it but I certainly know how much worse it can get if I don't stretch and do core work

You been doing a lot of manual work which would include bending, lifting, hold positions for a while.

That's fine when you are young, but as we age it's a lot easier to strain and s lot harder to recover

This!
If you girls have the possibility to go to the gym a few times a week, or even just one time a week, then do it. Focus on core and lower-body. I know from my own experience that it is good for the well-being.

I'm going to be building a home gym at my new place, cross trainer, rower, dumbbells, kettle bells and yoga space. I'm determined to get back fit again. I'm sick of being unable to do the things I love like hiking in the mountains and cycling. My depression is back under control and I'm in total damage repair mode now!

When I'm back here again I'll know I'm healed!

If you have the space, get a cable machine. Even the simpler ones are great for rowing, glutes via abduction and kickbacks, face pulls, pull throughs, ...

Bridging, planks, quad streches up into psoas and tfl, hamstring stretches can all be done without equipment, ok maybe a towel or strap can aid.

You need to go slowly at first, very very slowly, where you may not lift your body at all but just engage muscles.

Stretches also need to be gentle to start otherwise things can get a lot worse

When I was doing Physical Therapy for my back injury and knee, they gave me some elastic bands to work out with. You can get them in any sporting goods department. They come in different colors for different intensities, from very mild to very hard to stretch.

I was told to start with just using cans of soup for resistance, then work up to the bands and slowly increase the resistance when it became too easy to do the exercises.

You have the right idea; just don't blow your budget unnecessarily on gym workout machines. If we were closer, I would go hiking with you. I start with an empty backpack, then slowly add weight to it for a similar distance, or just go a longer distance. Fresh air, sunshine, and exercise do wonders for mind and body.

Aw thanks Lori! I would absolutely go hiking with you, though the desert heat would probably kill me! It really does look so different to what I'm used to, I would love to go for an explore with you and my camera.

I already own the crosstrainer I used it before when I lost 10 stone last time. I was up to 60 min sessions on it but it was starting to get a bit repetative. I already have the dumbbells and kettlebells and yoga set up so really the only things I'll be buying is the rower (using my birthday present money!) resistance bands on excercise ball so I won't be spending a fortune. It worked before and it will work again. Just need to get the roof fixed before I move expensive kit in there! Although the rain might cool me down as I'm working out!

Install a drain in the floor. When it rains, you can shower while working out.
