Does any one use false lashes? Not the gigantic drag type ones, just a bit longer than normal to give a bit more definition and curl? I have short straight thick lashes that are a bit too short for curlers but even when I do manage to curl them it only lasts for a few minutes.

I just wondered if they work with my lash type and whether they are easy to remove at the end of a day? Do you still put mascara on them?

I have similar lashes. Short and light colored, so hard to see. Curlers don't work for long either. I have even tried heating the curler with a hair dryer first. It holds longer, but ouch if you get it too hot and touch your eyelid.

I have yet to find a mascara that I like. Most are too heavy and flake off after a while, even the waterproof type. They just irritate my eyes.

So, I switched to false lashes. I'm wearing them in my profile pic. I get the ones that aren't long and only have a few lashes, compared to the type you mentioned. They are just enough to add some volume without looking like a caterpillar nesting on my eyelids. Sometimes, I get the fuller ones and trim them down with scissors to get the look I want. You can shape them so they look more natural.

The most difficult part is getting them into the proper position before the glue sets. It takes practice and a steady hand. Coming off, then can pull your lashes with them, so be careful. You don't need to add mascara or anything that might cause them to stick to your natural lashes.

Then I discovered magnetic lashes. Wow, that was a game-changer. Instead of putting glue on the lash, you apply it like eyeliner just above your lash line and let it dry. It contains iron compounds. The lashes have tiny neodymium magnets that stick to the eyeliner. That makes it easier to pull them off and realign them as needed. They are a little harder to find a good variety of styles, but they are more durable than regular falsies.

Give them a try. Once you get the hang of it, it doesn't take long and provides a very nice look. You can even get them in some wild colors if you are feeling adventurous.

Thanks for that Lori, I think I will give it a try. How do you remove the glue? Would micellar water do the trick?

On mascara I have found Maybelline Lash Sensational Sky High to be quite good. Idon't get any reaction to it. My eyes can be sensitive. I still get a little sore if I put liner to close when tightlining.

I don't do makeup or lashes, but can we just be honest and agree that drag queens no longer have the market cornered on crazy lashes? I see more tarantula lashes and trout pout lip filler on the subway every day than there ever was at a drag show! 🤣

Magnetic eyeliner? If there are any horror stories about going into an MRI with magnetic eyeballs, I don't want to hear them! 😂

Hugs, Devlyn

I have the opposite. My natural lashes grow and curl. Ive had to trim my lashes when the would rub on my glasses.

You can get them done at salons too but they only last a few weeks so an expensive do! I think if I'm going somewhere special I might get them done from time to time. Unfortunately being totally blurry in my right eye, doing anything detailed on my left eye is impossible as its covered by whatever I'm trying to do. My only option is salons really.

Jammy = lucky, cow = tounge in cheek way to reference friends or could be a mild insult (not in this case though ha ha!)

I was correct in my assumption.
Thank you for the clarification.

How are you doing today? You seemed a little off the last couple days

I'm fine Kellie. I do get blue sometimes and certain thoughts can trigger it. I was talking about being alone a lot in posts and I think the loneliness just got on top of me a bit.

I've buried it for now though so I'm feeling tip-top. Thanks for asking though.

Aw thanks Kellie, I've got it all out of my system I think. But that's really sweet of you to offer. I'll message you though if it get's on top of me again. Thanks pet.

I'm a latchdoor key kid from the 70's, an only child and I'm used to being alone. I'm quite resilient normally. It didn't really bother me that much until coming on here I guess. I think letting Sarah loose online has awakend me to the possibility of a different life and one where I don't necessarily need to be alone anymore. I got caught up in the possibiliy and I guess the reality just hit me.

Just to be clear, Sarah, you are never alone here. We might not be in the same room, but we are very good at listening and giving virtual hugs. I may not be online as much as Kellie, but I'm still here if you need anything. Message me anytime, or email if you prefer.

Hugs!

Thanks Lori, I don't mean to play the sad sack! In this place I have felt like I belong somewhere for the first time in a long time. Very kind of you to offer your ear though. I would contest that you are here every bit as much as Kellie though and me for that matter, you usually can't shut us up!

Sort of, in some pubs there are booths, in others there are just sort of nooks or side rooms where it's quieter, there are seats and tables and you can chat more easily between friends or conspire to do dastardly deeds! Those sorts of areas are often called snugs. You still have the vibe and ambience of the pub, just a bit more subdued and private.
