Just wanted to say that I successfully started my process of getting top surgery done. I talked to my doctor to make the document that I need to take to my health insurance and I'm considering asking for one from my therapist too, just to add to it. I'm yet to tell my family about that, but I will after I make a plan for my post-surgery care.

I'm happy about that.

I'm really happy to hear that! Whatever you can do to reduce your dysphoria is a good thing. I hope it all goes well!

It's a big brave step on your journey darksou. I hope your health insurance can get on board with it. Best of luck.

Legally speaking, it has to cover my surgery (in Brazil, at least), so I'm positive I will get it. I just don't know in how many months yet.

Well we have the national health service in the uk which would probably cover things but the waiting list just to be seen by a gender clinic now is something like 8 years! You could be in a worse situation!

I'm aware that I'm lucky on this aspect, I just don't know when I will get it done yet. Probably less than one year though.

You are young though, a year might seem like an eternity to you right now but it's nothing really. It will pass in no time. As you get older, time starts to move much quicker it seems. It also gives you plenty of time to make sure you are making the right decision. You don't have to move at lightspeed to get these things done, you have your whole life ahead of you.
