Honestly I have never had either. I don't really do breakfast stuff. I think, on principle, I would go with pancakes. But not the way most people think of them.
There's a day in the UK called Shrove Tuesday... or "pancake day." Where people have pancakes for their dinner. I do not know of a "Waffle Day". Point is... Pancake day is a thing in the UK. It's the one day where ingredients to make pancakes are heavily discounted.
I don't... I don't like that syrup stuff though. My mum always put a stew and gravy on them. I always thought of them as a flat Yorkshire Pudding. Sweet pancakes will always weird me out. You are welcome to the syrup.
