Six plaintiffs are taking on the State of Idaho, with legal representation from the American Civil Liberties Union, over the state's recently implemented "bathroom bill."

House Bill 752 was signed into law by Gov. Brad Little on March 31 and will go into effect on July 1. Instead of waiting for the law to go into full effect, the six plaintiffs have filed a lawsuit against the state, alleging that the law is one of the most "punitive and broadest-sweeping laws in the country to restrict restroom use by transgender people."

The lawsuit alleges the bathroom bill carries harsh criminal penalties for using the "incorrect" bathroom. The lawsuit against the state, and all counties' prosecuting attorneys, claims that HB 752 "prohibits transgender people from using sex-designated restrooms aligned with their gender identity in all government-owned buildings and places of public accommodation."

"H.B. 752 presents transgender Idahoans with an impossible choice: use a restroom that does not align with their gender identity and risk severe physical and psychological harms, or continue to use restrooms in public in accordance with their gender identity and risk a criminal record and imprisonment," the lawsuit states.

Idaho. My city has a direct relocation conduit there. Although my area is dead red (yes, in CA - it's the whole Central Valley), the state is very blue. So people leave Shasta County to move to Idaho.

Good riddance.

I'm glad I can choose my bathroom, even though moments ago I was whining to AI about how hard the choice is right now.
