My therapist has wanted to put me on anti-depressants for a while. I am thinking I need them to quite the negative thoughts in my head. Has anyone been prescribed them while on HRT. Anything I should watch out for. I fear living in a fog.

I have been on antidepressants since 2010 with no break but have changed types. For me there is no fog or any identifiable symptoms from using them. If I forget a day then I know about it however! That said other people have different experiences and do get side effects, so it really depends on the person.

In terms of HRT there was no interaction at all. I'm on Venlafaxine which is a second line SNRI antidepressant. You'd probably start on a SSRI like Sertraline or Fluoxetine as they are far less stressful on your system and have very few interactions.

There is no problem being on them if you feel you need that help. And as long as you need too.

No, I have not been prescribed any antidepressants.  I would think a MD would know of any side effects or adverse effects of you taking them with your HRT.  Each of us do react differently to meds but maybe the replies here would shed some light also.

Always stay cheerful, be polite, kind, and understanding. Accepting yourself as the woman you are is very liberating.  Never underestimate the appreciation and respect of authenticity.  Help connect a person to someone that may be able to help that person.  Be brave, be strong.  A TRUE friend is a treasure.  Relationships are very important, people are important, and the sooner we all realize that the better off the world will be.  Try a little kindness.  Be generous with your time, energy, wisdom, and resources.   Inconvenience yourself to help someone.   I am a brown eyed, brown haired woman.

I take an antidepressant and it really doesn't interact with my HRT at all. I recall going off the antidepressant once and it only really resulted in high anxiety and feeling on edge. (Nothing good.)

If you need to be on an antidepressant it's best to remain on it in my opinion.

My Agoraphobia means I haven't been to a doctor in over 10 years. So this will be through telehealth. They will probably make me go get blood test first. None of this is making me excited but my depression has been really bad the last few weeks to the point I have finally realized I need them.
