Dear Anna:
I was so happy to read about your baby steps...  a few more baby steps can turn into BIG steps as
you continue to venture out fully dressed.

As @Lori Dee stated in her reply comment:
"And the fact that no one really noticed has been my experience too.
"People are mostly stuck inside their own little world."

Initially, when I started going out in female mode I did not wear revealing clothing,
but as time went by I became more brave.
I have been full time since I relocated to my small town in 2017 and I have always been fully
accepted as "Danielle."

When I venture out of my home I am always in female mode and wear what is appropriate for the
occasions, the weather and who I may be meeting.

Continue on with those baby steps and it will start feeling right for you.
I enjoy reading your updates... please keep them coming on your Blog thread
and on the various Forum Topics.

Thank you, Danielle!
I appreciate your encouragement and wisdom, a lot.
And on another note: Your new Avatar picture. That smile can literally melt an iceberg. Gorgeous!

Leggings are perhaps not a suitable choice. Wife came home. Saw me in leggings and said "Now you look like a girl". Fair enough and at least half-true. "Those are tight over thighs and wider below the knees, and look like the ones that the teenagers have when they are at the gym".

I guess leggings are out for a while. I don't really have a problem with that. Just hoping that she doesn't think I'll only ever use sweatpants and such.
A bit of talk at some convenient time within the next week or so, is probably called for.

Edit: I'll check out wife's leggings when possible. Maybe she's also a teenager. 😉

Quote from: Petunia on August 19, 2026, 05:46:38 AMI had it this afternoon

It was windy outside and went to the bathroom to do my minoxy for hair loss.

My hair is thin and fly away, but blown back with sparkling earrings (I still can't get over the second piercings I got) I didn't look at the ugly face in the middle.

I saw the girl in the mirror.

Wow. A long way from showering in the dark a bit over 12 months ago
🥹 I love this moment for you, Petunia. I'm glad you could see her.

I can be about the little things. The second piercing. The motion of hair. For me it was the motion of dangly earrings. My smile in red lipstick. Or early on, the shine of my fingernails in clear polish and the feel of satin panties.

Who am I fooling, but myself, in thinking that I really want to just be androgynous?
I don't WANT to be just androgynous. I want to be a really female woman on the outside as well as on the inside. Then, it can be that I have to settle for an androgynous look where I sometimes lean more femme, sometimes lean homme - but it is not what I'd choose if I could choose freely without problematic consequences.
There, I said it! I realized today that this is how it is.

As I said before, only time can tell, but I'd bet on having to settle for androgynous.

I have been to a small event today. It was I and about 120k other attendees.
I was Looking at the way the ladies dress, when not looking at the main attractions.
Of course the younger girls don't dress like the ladies my age do, but this is only the general view. There are ladies of age in very youthful clothes and there are younger ladies/girls dressing "maturely".
So of course there's age-ok clothing but in the end it comes down to what you like and what looks good on you.

I can't remember how old you are Anna but I know that Gen Xer's have thrown the rule book out on what is ok to wear when you get older. I don't think it looks out of place for a 50-60 year old woman to be wearing clothing for a 30 something woman. The days of being consigned to beige cardies and twin sets are long gone!

Sarah, I'm late boomer so not too far off genX. But I'm just trying to get a feel for what I'm comfortable wearing without being a total beacon of weirdness.

Well I think you are going about it in the right way, observing and making mental notes. If you find an online store that sells stuff that matches your ideas you can use a wish list to curate a wardrobe virtually. I do that from time to time.
