What women wear is a quickly moving target, unlike what we are used to wearing as men!
In New England a good place to see what women wear is the local fairs.  You can see a lot of people in a short amount of time.

If you are small it is much easier to find clothes as a woman.
I wear sample sizes.  XS and size 7 shoes.  This makes it incredibly easy to find women's clothes that fit!
I can save a lot of money by just waiting for clothes to go on sale!
Sample sizes look good on the clothing racks and are often the last to sell!

Devlyn, the psychologist doesn't agree with the German system holding on to the old codes, so he wrote "man to woman trans identity (ICD 10: F 64.0)" but on my referral slip from my GP it still says "F 64.0 Transsexualität"

Laura, that is exactly what my GP said when I brought up the concern with her. She told me "There are many ways to be feminine. You can go lesbian, I mean, look at me. I just have a polo and jeans." But like what Marion has stated, I also think my body is going to finally work in my favour. No one believed me that I did what I did in the Army because, unless I was in uniform, I simply did not look the part, quite the opposite. I've struggled with that all my life and finally that all dissipated like vapour over the summer.

Yeah, plenty of chicks will surprise you, ya know?

I remember after the first Indiana Noisefest that I put on, my friend, his girlfriend at the time, and I were taking my gear up to my apartment. I grabbed the huge duffel bag that was full of power supplies, pedals, and patch cables.

I was struggling HARD with that monster. Even with double-fisting it, I felt like I was dying. LOL His girlfriend set my two tiny Randalls down, and we swapped. She hoisted that thing on her shoulder as if it were a gigantic purse. My shoulder was disintegrating at the sight of her. She couldn't have been much more than 100ish pounds. She was a little wittle stick. But she had serious strength. When I asked how the hell she could do that, she laughed and said, "Laura, we're carnies. This is nothing for us."

Hmmmmmm.....maybe another storytime? Yes.

Stottie Girl

Quote from: Laura Squirrel on Today at 09:33:04 AMSorry, but I have to disagree on that andro point. Here's why: Look around at your environment. When I was growing up (and later, once I knew that I would finally transition), I always paid attention to what the women and girls in my family were wearing. The women never dressed girly unless it was Saturday night and everyone was getting dolled up to go out on the town. The other instance was if one of them had an office job.

My female cousins were a bit of a mixed bag. My cousin on my mom's side of the family was a mix of girly and more tomboyish fashions. There was a pair of girls on my father's side of the family, where the older one dressed much more consistently on the feminine side. The younger girl was more tomboyish. But, she still had her girly days.

I get how some peeps want to dive into the deep end of femininity. But the fact of the matter is this: Sometimes, going uber girly will just make you more clockable. That's just the way it is. A bit of cold water, perhaps. But some people just can't pull it off. Hence why I remember seeing plenty of women and girls who go the tomboy route. I ESPECIALLY noticed this when I was taking the bus downtown to see my therapist or to get to my hospital for bloodwork. It made me realize, quite quickly, that I was chasing something that would just be annoying. (Stuff that can't be machine washed, for one). So, I learned to accept that this was just part of me, and I rolled with it.

Sure, I do have a LOT of women's polos, and that's good enough for me. Darker shades are the rule. My friend always gives me crap for it and calls me a yuppie. LOL Aren't yuppies usually rich?
Hmmmm you do have a point Laura. Some CIS women do lean into the angrogenous side of clothing but they have the faces and body to pull that off. If a transwoman does too then great but if you struggle then dressing more feminine can definitely help with passing. However, that does not mean you are going out ultra glam everywhere you go. You have to have different wardrobe options depending on the circumstances. I have all the glam dresses and outfits but when I'm at home and feeling casual then I'm in T-shirts, or tank tops with leggings, or skinny jeans or maxi skirts or wide linen trousers etc. Work is another outfit, then the great outdoors. And then you have the seasonal variations too! I like to dress down to relax but I still think you can be feminine when doing it.

To be clear, there is nothing wrong with androgynous either it all boils down to finding your own personal style. For me that is one of the most enjoyable parts of transition. I love experimenting but I think I'm pretty much there style wise.

I mean, I HAVE thought about branching out in some ways. BUT, when I look at certain things like dresses, they flat-out suck. My tastes in dresses are so insanely old-fashioned, I would look like an extra out of "Little House On The Prairie". LOL Also, money being what it is, it is beyond insane how little you can do with it now. Ten years ago, I could do more with less. But that is what happens when the purchasing power of your glamma-bloob. goes to blargh. So, I don't know. It's all a wait and see thing. I still haven't bought the appropriate amount of grey polos to balance out the black and navy blue ones.

Hey, like I say, there's nothing wrong with either approach being a woman is all about the inside not the outside really. You don't have to wear dresses to be feminine. skinny jeans, sketchers and tanktops or slashed shirts maybe?

Oh, God. No. Just....no. That would be completely wrong. No one needs to see this here moo cow in those kinds of clothes. I haven't been skinny since my Jr High days. I do like sneakers, though.

Wide leg linen trousers and boho hippy maxi skirts would be your friend then. Soooo comfy. In fact the whole boho look is effortlessly casual but still very feminine.

That would be bad:

Base Code W61.62 is non-billable because it lacks the 7th character indicating the stage of treatment.

And of course:
Sequela (W61.62XS): Used for long-term effects or complications resulting from the strike.

Hello, I would like to file a disability claim.

For what?

It's complicated.

No....lol.....no. I just need to work on the torso first.

Okay. I'm an idiot. I know nothing about fashion anymore. Maybe if I could find one in a solid dark color. I have very plain and boring tastes.
