As Ashley said, iPhones and Macs use iCloud Relay. It isn't a full VPN like on a PC, but it works in the same way.
You can manually turn it off in your Settings. Then leave it off, or turn it off and on as needed.
Turn iCloud Private Relay off Go to
Settings > [your name] >
iCloud >
Private Relay, then tap
Private Relay.
Do one of the following:
Turn off iCloud Private Relay temporarily:
Tap Turn Off Until Tomorrow.
Within 24 hours, iCloud Private Relay will turn back on automatically. If you want it to resume sooner, follow the instructions for turning it on at any time.
Turn off iCloud Private Relay completely:
Tap Turn Off Private Relay.

And no, you are not banned. Spammers and hackers attack the site through the iCloud Relay (among other VPNs and TORs), so that access is blocked.
