Trans youth patients sue hospital for ending gender-affirming care in face of Trump threats

Children's Hospital Colorado (CHC) is currently in court defending itself from allegations that it is in contempt of court. The Colorado Supreme Court ruled in May that the hospital had to resume providing gender-affirming care for trans youth, but plaintiffs argue the hospital is still not providing care. They're asking the court to fine the hospital $50,000 a day if it remains noncompliant.

"The only people bearing the harm of this are children belonging to a minority group facing threats all across the country," said John McHugh, the attorney representing the plaintiffs in the case during opening statements.

CHC previously offered gender-affirming care through the TRUE Center for Gender Diversity. However, they stopped offering that care to anyone under the age of 18 in January, following a series of threats to federal funding from the Department of Health and Human Services' Secretary Robert J. Kennedy Jr.

Families of several trans youths in the state sued the hospital, alleging that it was discriminatory to stop offering gender-affirming care to trans youths when cisgender patients still receive the same treatments. In May, the Colorado Supreme Court ruled in the plaintiff's favor and instructed the hospital to resume providing care to trans youth.

As the paper says:

In May, the Colorado Supreme Court ruled in the plaintiff's favor and instructed the hospital to resume providing care to trans youth.

This is central precocious puberty versus gender affirming care.  Where both groups use GnRH blockers.  I have been working on a puberty blocker paper detailing these exact same issues.

It goes like this; "if it's good for the goose its good for the gander".
