"Excerpt: But for ESPA, the marriage recognition issue is just one
more argument "in the toolbox." Tuesday is the day each week when
legislators open their offices to constituents and others pressing
their issues, and Van Capelle is in Albany just about every Tuesday
to meet with senators. Last Tuesday, ESPA brought 1,200 people with
them from around the state - eight buses from the city, four from
Rochester, and two from Buffalo (a place not far from Toronto)
delivered its largest Equality & Justice Day crowd ever - to lobby
not only on marriage equality, but also on long-stalled measures to
offer nondiscrimination protection to transgendered New Yorkers and
protect school students from bullying and harassment."
