Studies indicate that 33 percent of LGBT youths attempt suicide; the rate is four times higher than that of heterosexual youths.
"Luc a has the courage to talk about something as difficult as suicide," Brenesky says. "Very few people are willing to deal with this issue, especially in Latino communities.
"By talking about this issue, Luc a also will be introducing audiences to support groups that can offer support and understanding to parents who are struggling with the issue of having gay children," he says. "It's important for youth to know there are groups and individuals who are extending their hands and saying, `Suicide is not the answer. We are here to help."'
