Coachella Valley's Prop. 8 opponents out-raising its supporters

Coachella Valley opponents of a same-sex marriage ban have out-raised supporters 2 to 1, donating more than $85,000 to one side of California's most contentious social issue in the Nov. 4 election.
Statewide, the campaigns for and against Proposition 8 have raked in about $43 million, with supporters of the ban collecting the lion's share.
Coachella Valley residents were not surprised.
"People in the valley, I think, understand equality," said Palm Springs Mayor Steve Pougnet, who last month married his longtime partner.
