Transgender students are not the biggest demographic at Appalachian
State University, but the university has made sure they have support
on campus.

The university opened the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and
transgender) center in the Plemmons Student Union earlier this year,
providing a center for support for lesbian, gay, bisexual and
transgender students.

Students have also noticed the need for support of LGBT students on
campus. transACTION is a student-formed club designed to support
transgender students not only among the student body, but also among
university staff and the Appalachian community.
