QuoteAlthough a same-sex marriage ban passed this November in California, some locals might experience psychological effects, according to a study.

A study in the Journal of Counseling Psychology by the American Psychological Association shows that lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender adults experience more stress when same-sex marriage amendments are on the ballot, no matter the location.

The study was done after the November 2006 elections, but the researchers said that it is relevant to the recent passage of Proposition 8 in California, which repealed same-sex marriage in the state.

The Ohio marriage amendment, which recognizes marriage only between a man and a woman, was passed in 2004 and still has an effect on Ohioans.
