Transgender rights activists are closely paying attention to the Colorado murder trial of Allen Andrade this week as the state's hate crimes statute for transgender Coloradans is tested. Andrade stands accused of bludgeoning Angie Zapata, a transgender woman, to death in the early morning hours of July 17, 2008.
