Is ENDA dead for the year?

Guess what's on next week's markup schedule? Not ENDA.

The House Committee on Education and Labor has published its schedule for next week, and ENDA is not there. ENDA could be marked up the following week, but there wouldn't be enough time to get it to the floor for a vote before the House left for the winter vacation.

However, I spoke to a contact on the Committee, and was advised that it is possible that ENDA could still be scheduled for a markup next week, with the proviso that 72 hours notice are required. No answer to my question about how likely that is.

tekla

The DC rule is - outside of stuff like old money banks collapsing - if it ain't done by T-Giving, its going to wait till January.

You are aware I'm sure that the way the Founding Fathers and the traditions of both the House and the Senate is to provide all sorts of ways to slow down the process of making new law, not to speed it up.  And when we jettison all that 'slow down' stuff, and rush votes what we get is the Homeland Security Act and the TARP Bailout - in other words, really bad law.
FIGHT APATHY!, or don't...
