SALEM: Health hubs named Arokiya Vazhvu Maiyam exclusively for trangenders will be set up in government hospitals in 12 districts.

The Government Mohan Kumaramangal Medical College in Salem, on Wednesday allocated space and other facilities in response to an order from the Health Department.

It was the first to take the step, according to Tamil Nadu Aids Initiative (TAI) officials.

The Health Department has recently ordered 16 government hospitals in 12 districts in the State to establish the hubs for transgenders after TAI working for transgender's health lobbied for the same.
