There are actually several fairly promising paths being researched and trying to get approval, but type 1 isn't something that just goes away when you lose weight or try diet x.  Islet cell transplants, artificial pancreas (pump and real time monitoring), etc.

I think we'll all agree that water is best, but sometimes it is a bit harder to get kids to drink just plain water.  We also try to keep some flavored water around so he has enough options.
