"The Eulogy"

The mourners gathered dressed in black,
to pay their last respects.
To he that was and nevermore shall be.

A girl moves forward to take her place,
behind the funeral dais.
Is that the widow so fancifully coifed?

Nay, tis she who always was whom he
So long denied.
Tis she who is and shall forever be.

Shhh , the mourner admonished, she is
about to speak.
She who is and shall forever be.

He that was and shall nevermore be,
was but a fake
and not deserving of your tears.

T'was he who buried me so long ago,
I can't remember when.
He that was and nevermore will be.

But fate cut the string, that he could not see
he feared societal reciprocity.
He that was and nevermore shall be.

He locked me in his castle keep in his dungeon,
so dark and deep.
He that was and nevermore shall be.

Tis she who stands before you now and bends
to kiss his cold dead brow.
She who is and shall forever be.

Shed not a tear I tell you now tis not a
Mournful day
For I am she who is and shall forever be.

And so the mourners to the coffin draw they nigh.
What trickery the mourners cry, this coffin sits
quite empty.

Tis true, tis true, but don't you see,
for he was she and she is me and we will always be.

Very nice Cassie.

I must admit that I'm not a poetry buff at all.  But I did enjoy reading yours, something that a lot of us can all relate to.

It was realy great.

Take care,

Steph

Hi Cassie,

Your poem is so very beautiful.  I read it several times and it almost brought tears to my eyes.   There was sadness and joy, I loved it.  You have a unique talent.

It is so sad that we spend most of our lives repressing feelings that are so beautiful.   Life is too short to waste being miserable.  But I still find it so hard to make the complete change, I'm very happy you did.
