Two authors hope their novel will help teenagers understand why a woman would become a man.

Cheryl Critchley talks to Ryan Kennedy about his young-adult book f2m: the boy within, co-written with Hazel Edwards.

You made the transition from female to male (known as f2m) at the age of 27. How close is the experience of the book's main character, Finn, to yours?
The medical sequence is similar to mine, though not identical. All the characters are fictitious. I drew on my involvement with the punk scene, though I was never in an all-female band.
