Social Constructions

When one talks a lot about trans crap, and I do, one is bound to encounter people who claim that they don't believe in gender, that gender is a false creation, and often they will cite as the source of their disagreement with this concept the oft noted point that Gender is a social construction.

They do this without really understanding what social constructions are, mind you, they just immediately assume that since it is a construction, it must not be real, that there is some sort of flaw inherent in it and that it's a bad thing.

So I thought that I'd offer some good examples of other things that are social constructions of the same level as Gender and it's disparate parts, but I don't want to get into all the stuff underlying it, which is, of course, social constructionism.
