I think that music compatibility is somewhat important. There are some bands I can't stand, and if my partner is really into one of those bands I wouldn't be able to do that.

Differences in musical tastes doesn't seem important to me, when it comes to a relationship. I just wouldn't like dating someone who insisted on telling me that my favourite bands sucked or that they hated the band. I take that stuff personally.
