A one-year-old Pomeranian puppy's life has been saved after going under a $1,165 gender reassignment operation. Red, who was found on the streets of San Bernardino, was born as a pseudo hermaphrodite, meaning he was born with partially formed male and female reproductive organs, according to the Press Enterprise.

I wish I could adopt him so much, I always had a love for standard sized Pomeranians due to a good friends dog. She was and still 10 years later is a riot who everyone adores.

Unfortunately, I live 300 miles from San Bernardino, my boyfriend has a disdain for smaller dogs and I live in a apartment.  :'(

A Pomeranian puppy who has the unusual distinction of having undergone a sex change will be given a home next week.

The puppy, named Red, is recovering after gender-reassignment surgery saved the dog from euthanasia. The dog was born with partially formed male and female reproductive organs and required surgery to prevent infection and reduce the risk of cancer.
