I cannot say for sure that this is what happened to your friend, but it wouldn't surprise me either. In my own experience, on every single website I have ever joined as an out transwoman, I have received messages from men who, no matter how clear I am about who I am and what I'm looking for in my profile description, still assume I must be looking for a "professional" good time. To these men (and it has been 100 percent exclusively men) the fact that I'm not ashamed to be a transwoman means I must be a sex worker.
