I was listening to my mp3 player and this song came on and I fell in love with it (not just because it's Joan Jett, who I absolutely adore).

Here comes Dick
He's wearing a skirt
Here comes Jane
You know she's sporting a chain
Same hair revolution
Same build evolution
Tomorrow who's going to fuss

And they love each other so
Androgynous
Closer than you know
Love each other so
Androgynous

Well don't get him wrong
And don't get him mad
He might be a father
But he sure ain't a dad
She don't need
Advice that they send to her
She's happy with the way she looks
She's happy with her gender

And they love each other so
Androgynous
Closer than you know
Love each other so
Androgynous

Mirror image see no damage
See no evil at all
Cupie dolls and urine stalls
Will be laughed at the way
You're laughed at now

Now something meets boy
And something meets girl
They both are the same
They're overjoyed in this world
Same hair revolution, unisex, evolution
Tomorrow who's gonna fuss

And tomorrow Dick is wearing pants
Tomorrow Jane's wearing a dress
Future outcasts and a they don't last
And a today the people dress the way
That they please
The way they tried to do in the last century

And they love each other so
Androgynous
Closer than you know
Love each other so
Androgynous
Androgynous
Androgynous
Don't you get it
Androgynous

Someone just posted a link to this on the bigender forum and  I absolutely fell in love with the song too! There is just something simple and innocent that rings amazingly true for me. Thank you for sharing.

You're welcome!

That's how it is for me, too!

Great thread!  Dang, I LOVE Joan Jett!  Thanks for posting this ... GREAT song!

To me, Joan (Joan Marie Larkin) Jett is the greatest female rocker of all time and can match nearly all the great guy rockers.  To me, only Zep, Sabbath and The Stones outrock her.  That's subjective and is a matter of personal taste.

Any of you old enough to remember Sam the Sham and The Pharoahs?  Well, in about 1965 or thereabouts, they did this song.  It was awesome, but THIS cover by Joan & TBH is way better, I believe:

Androgynes are WAY cool ... love 'em!

Believe.  Persist.  Arrive.    :D

Julie Vu (Princess Joules) Rocks!  "Hi, Sunshine Sparkle Faces!" she says!

Kind of an unfair comparison, Joan is doing rock, but Sam (Domingo "Sam" Samudio) is doing a watered-down version of Tejano for white folk.  DYK that Trini Lopez was in Sam's first band?  TMYK.
FIGHT APATHY!, or don't...

I think Androgynes are cool too. But then I may be a little biased!

Uh. . . you do know the song is originally by The Replacements? The original is infinitely better, IMO. Joan Jett's version irks me somehow.

Did everyone see "The Runaways" movie? So awesome!
"People come and go so quickly here!"

Nah, knowing the Paul Westerberg catalog is beyond most people's taste range here.  But, just for you, here is is doing my favorite song by him,  Waitress in the Sky, a song about strippers.

FIGHT APATHY!, or don't...

I think Joan Jet's version is rather cute  :)

Here's the original by the Replacements

And who could forget the Crash Test Dummies?

Thanks for posting! I've heard the original by the Replacements but not the CTD. Joan Jett's cover is still my favorite.
