How does the sketch "degrade the lives and experiences" of transgender people? If anything, SNL brought some light hearted visibility to the subject matter in a funny and tasteful way, or in the manner you would expect from the folks in Lorne Michaels camp. Being a friend of transgender people and knowing some personally I don't think they would have taken any more offense to that sketch than anyone else SNL pokes fun at.
