Romance is not dead but it might as well be buried in an unmarked grave in under some little used dusty alley off Hollywood Boulevard and Fifth Avenue near the O. K. Corral. Nighthawks need not apply.

The high school girl who had no date for the prom. The boy who, if he was picked for the team, was exiled to right field and told to not screw up.

The lame legged child who finished last when the third grade ran at recess.

The young woman without a suitor whose younger sister has many.

I don't remember anyone romancing on about any of these. In our dreams we are always the football star or the beauty queen, the discoverer of a foolproof cure for cancer or the fast pitch softball All American. Some of us might even dream about being President of the United States. Others the First Lady. Still others the parent of children and spending our lifetime raising a family.
