How common are the risks for T? It's no where near time for me to be on it yet but this has been something that's been on my mind. Also how long will it take for my voice to drop? I've heard it varies.

Risks for what exactly?

I had increased blood pressure and bad cholesterol within 5 months. Of course that's not all directly related to T.

I wish I could tell you when it drops, but I guess it varies since my voice had not dropped yet. I started T Feb 15th and I hear no difference in my voice at all. I heard it was supposed to drop a little in like 4 weeks or so. I'm not real sure.

Nygeel: Risks for anything. I want to know all I can about T even though I haven't even started therapy yet. I guess I meant side effects more than risks.

Dominick: That must suck :/ sorry to hear man. Well I guess the only way I'll know is if I go on T in the first place.

I recommend that site in general.

This would be the health related part of it:

It lists a load of potentially scary things, but in general you could say that T will just bring you in line with what it would have been like anyway if you had been born with a male body.

My endocrinologist has worked with males to female transsexuals for 13 years, and she told me that she's never seen anyone experience any side effects that couldn't be controlled. She said things like high blood pressure, cholesterol, and liver problems rarely ever happen unless you're already predisposed to having those sorts of problems.

There's not been enough research to know the long term effects of testosterone.
However, different bodies do different things. The risks will depend on your health, lifestyle and genetic predisposition.

As for the voice, just watch videos on YouTube and see when other guys' voices started to drop. Mine lowered slightly at 7 weeks, then dropped into something passable by 11 weeks but is still continuing to change after a year on T.

My voice started dropping at 3 weeks, but I've read that that's pretty early.
