In another thread I talked about finding an ant colony inside the foam insulating my hot tub.  In trying to find a leak, I found the colony.  The ants went into what looked like a panic when I ripped the siding off.  Their home was just destroyed and I thought about the people in Joplin, MO and what it must have been like when the tornadoes ripped through their homes.  When you look at the devastation still there from Katrina you realize how long it takes humans to rebuild their homes and their lives.

An hour after the ant colony was exposed I returned to the site and found the entire colony had moved.  In ant society all work for the well being of the whole.  Imagine what we could accomplish if we humans were like that.
When you judge others, you do not define them, you define yourself.

I think they in fact work for the Queen and the larvae. Every thing else is dispensable.

Sorry I do know what you mean.

My country, Australia, has been hit with the largest floods for ages, bush fire and cyclones (tornadoes) Japan :( New Zealand :(. USA :( Europe :(

Because of the floods we will now grow a lot of bush. Wildfire season will come in 6 months, because of the floods we had no or few burn off's. We could burn next year. I hope we don't. If we burn the fuel load is massive.  :(

Good point, Julie. The sad thing is that government does absolutely nothing for anyone. I know the Ninth Ward in New Orleans is still uninhabited for the most part. I intend to go down there in the future to see for myself.

Actually ants have absolutely no sense of individuality.   The Queen communicates with the soldiers and drones through pheromones.  An ant colony is in essence  one mind(the queen's) in many bodies.

The trouble with human society is not that we are too individualistic, it is that we are not individualistic enough.   Many if not all of our problems are caused by having too many passive, scared people who won't stand up to the psychopathic corporate world that has raped, pillaged, poisoned the earth and driven down, and kept down, wages/salaries in real terms for 50 years.  We are living in the world's richest society, yet it doesn't feel like that because out corporate masters are fanatically greedy hungry ghosts who love only money and the power that money can bring.   Turning human society into an ant colony would only please the top people at Haliburton, Microsoft, Enron, AEG, and all those money grubbing, ultra-corrupt petroleum and pharmaceutical companies.

Hungry Ghosts:

'The Hungry Ghosts are probably the most vividly drawn metaphors in the Wheel of Life. Phantomlike creatures with withered limbs, grossly bloated bellies, and long thin necks, the Hungry Ghosts in many ways represent a fusion of rage and desire. Tormented by unfulfilled cravings and insatiably demanding of impossible satisfactions, the Hungry Ghosts are searching for gratification for old unfulfilled needs whose time has passed. They are beings who have uncovered a terrible emptiness within themselves, who cannot see the impossibility of correcting something that has already happened. Their ghostlike state represents their attachment to the past.'

'In Hindu tradition, hungry ghosts are spirit-beings driven by passion for particular things, objects of their desire. Possibly the worst thing about "Hungry Ghosts" is that they always come back for more. Very detailed information about ghosts is given in Garuda Purana.[citation needed]'
[edit] Book of Enoch

'The Book of Enoch (an apocryphal book of the Bible) describes the fall of the Grigori and the demons who might be the Grigori themselves, or the offspring of the union of the Grigori and mankind. These creatures are said to wander the world in the form of evil spirit, endlessly yearning for food though they have no mouths to eat, endlessly thirsty though they cannot drink. Endlessly seeking these things from the living, the evil spirits seek to possess weak-willed men and women to dispossess their spirits and to take over their bodies so as to partake of food and drink'

For 'food and drink' substitute 'money and power' and our corporate masters stand revealed for what they are.

Well when ants get flooded out they move their colony to higher ground

I wonder why people are allowed to build in flood zones or if they are they should be houseboats

Kia Ora,

Sounds like people who have lived a selfish life and are now stuck in a limbo state without the ability to move onto the next world. Imagine your spirit still stuck here on earth when your body is gone and all you can do is try to be that nasty little voice in peoples heads trying to persuade them to follow your mislead ways too.

Imagine what we could accomplish if we humans were like that.

I imagine we'd be exactly like ant, living in the insulating form of something built by a higher species.  I mean, the ant do live exactly like ants, and what you see is the result, and we seem to be able to a bit more for our own well-being.  That being said, I welcome our new ant overlords.

Besides most of the absolutely useless and destructive things that humans do, they do as a cooperative and coordinated large group.

It is the American Way after all.  Anything worth doing is worth doing for money.

Glenn Beck, Rush, Fox Noise, the KKK et.all. them people made bank trafficking in hate.  Beck doubled down also dealing in crazy and weapons-grade stupid. (well any good businessman knows his market.).  Hell if nothing else the Nazi Party was great for business.  Henry Ford was only too happy to help them build the death machines, and IBM worked out a lot of the bugs out of the computer code by hiring out to the SS and 'doing data' on the Death Camps to make them more efficient. (true story).  Those people doing the god hates ->-bleeped-<-s deal, (and really, how stupid is that?  Slayer was right, god hates us all) the entire Phelps Klan -and what a great word for them - are a bunch of lawers and they do those protests so they can sue people.

But ya, hate sells.

Worked for Slayer at least.

George Bush's grandfather made money off the Nazi regime.
So did W.C. Fields from what I heard.
