Dont be fooled by surgeons fees

just wanted to post a precautionary advisory.....the fees that a surgeon charges are not necessarily a reflection of the quality of work or the outcome.  For example: some United States/Canada surgeons fees can run as high as $23K, alot of which is allocated for the hospital (OR, post-op, anesthesia, etc).  Surgeons fees for overseas physicians may run anywhere from $7500-$15000 due to lower hospital fees, anesthesia, post op etc.
If you're paying $23K for surgery, it doesnt mean you're getting the creme dela creme of the surgeons and likewise if you pay $7500 overseas it doesnt mean you're gonna be butchered.  However, I would be skeptical of any fees lower than $7000-$7500.

I'm thinking that I will probably go overseas, regardless of saving money. Thailand is pretty amazing, and their standards of post-operative care are pretty high.

No, I just did some comparisons. When I had my breast aug, I was charged $1050 for 2 hours of OR time, and $200 for every hour thereafter, $800 for anesthesia.  When I had to spend one night in the hospital (regular room) my insurance was billed almost $9K and I had a copay of nearly $1500 (of which I stiffed em on haha).
I was told by my surgeons (dr saran) asst that I could opt to have all my pre op testing done at Piyavate for $150.....In the US, just the xray and radiologist fees will cost that much!  So, I'm fully aware that in the United States there isnt really a healthcare crises, there's a healthcare cost crisis!
I will check out that website tho!

US$ 3600 with Dr. Sanguan Kunaporn at PIH (Phuket), BTW US$11k for 14 days hospital and two stage op.
In SA breast-augmentation cost exactly the same in Rand 25'000 = US$3600.
To pay US$ 7'500 sound just completely spaced out to me!

That your medical pays for it, without this being some essential breast-cancer aftercare, is also note worthy.

In SA you have to pay for ALL cosmetic surgery out of your own pocket and I'm sure the same in Europe (UK, Germany, etc.) in general.
Now go figure...

I haven't looked at the cost of a BA here in Australia, but my Health Insurance specifically states they don't cover any cosmetic surgery.  Might as well get a hair transplant at the same time then if I am out of pocket.

My GRS was $14K but I saved $4K with the monetary exchange.  BA, with cohesive gel implants (about $2K more than saline) was $6,500.  FFS was a bit under $19K.  The first two were in Canada, FFS in the US.

I'm happy with the BA.  Not happy with the GRS.  And happy with the FFS.  All were done in '08 & '09.

Besides myself, I know three other girls personally who went to Brassard.  One had to go back a year later for an "adjustment".  No surgeon fees but she did have to pay for hospital, staff and traveling.  She said it took her three years to start feeling normal down there.

The second is unhappy because of numbness and hairs in her V.  She's three years post-op.  She can have the occasional "O" but everything has to be just right.

The third never talks about her experience.  I think she's about five years post op.

As for me, my dissatisfaction began when I saw the hack stitch job.  I'm used to seeing the skin sewn together so you can't see the lower epidermal layers.  What I saw was gaping wounds.  I was equally unimpressed with the stitch job he left from BA.  That was easily 1/4" wide.  He's a plastic surgeon.  He should know how to do sutures well. 

I'm two years post op and I still have pain when pressure is applied down there.  There is still a lot of numbness that doesn't seem to be going away.  No big O yet and I'm thinking that will never happen.  But it's the look that bothers me the most.  Very unnatural.

I know members here who are very happy.  It seems it's hit or miss with him.  He does his surgeries with lightning speed.  Maybe that's why the results are inconsistent.

This is not something you can know.  I've heard good and bad from pretty much every GRS surgeon out there.  It seems they all do great work and they all do bad work.  Anyway, there is no second chance with this surgery.  So it serves no purpose answering hypothetical questions.  When it's your time, you gotta go with whoever you pick and live with whatever you get.

Someone said 14 days in hospital for SRS???  That's amazing.  I was only in 6 days for a liver transplant!

I had surgery Saturday and home by train on following Sunday - complete with catheter and bag.. LOL
Surgeons do have their own ideas and probly good to follow their advice.
