Hey guys as the topic says do you think it's better to be skinny or to be curvy (and by curvy i don't mean fat)?  I decided to make this thread because just recently my therapist made a comment to me about my weight/figure, she said " You look great BUT maybe you should consider trying  to gain some weight towards your hips and thighs...you look alittle too skinny". This kinda bothered me cuz i REALLY love my skinny waistline but at the sametime i HATE not having that curvy hourglass figure. I'm scared to gain any weight cuz i know it's gonna go right to the spot i don't want it to like my stomach.

My weight runs from 143-145 pounds which isn't bad for my height at 5'9 but i do sometimes obsesse over it thinking i'm fat when i'm really not, i hope i'm not becoming anorexic or something.  ???

Girl, your therapist would say the same thing if she sees me lol. I eat a lot, even late at night, but I just don't gain weight for some reasons. I don't know why, I think it's because of my metabolism. Even I know that I'm too skinny but guys love girls with petite so being skinny is a good thing, well at least in my case. I just started taking hormones for 7 weeks so maybe 6-7 months later, I'll be gaining some weight due to the fat distribution. By the way, my weight is 110, and my height is 5'6 :o

The one problem most people have when the deliberately try to gain weight is that they never seem to get it where they want it-- and do get it where they don't. This has certainly been my experience. Your doctor should know your body well, though, so maybe it will work for you, but most skinny people who gain weight seem to just get an incoherent belly pudge.

I have gained weight but in the wrong places.  I am 180 lbs and have a belly.  If it would only shift to the proper places.

i would have to say curvy because lets face it, men don't have curves it's what makes us unique to men and also what men like in us.

Hopefully curvy.

I am just 2.5 months on HRT and currently 36-30-37.  I went from 36 inch to 37 inch hips in 1 month, so hopefully that's a good sign.

my therapist has told me i should lose some weight before, because it would make me look more feminine or something like that. i'm 5'11, and about 240-250 pounds. it fluctuates pretty easily. people have told me i'm fat before, but i've learned to accept myself as i am. the media and so much that influences us everyday is not a realistic measure of what people really look like. women come in all shapes and sizes. i've learned to accept myself for what i am. i have a large frame, and my muscles also come pretty thick, the fat, even thicker. even though i'm really weak. i just try to watch my portions, and exercise each day. if i can never get down to 150 pounds, then so be it. i think i would look slender if i was just an even 200 pounds. because i am tall, the fat is pretty well stretched, so it makes me look interesting.

I'd hope to be curvy, but currently I'm a straight rail and I can't imagine that changing. There is no fat to even redistribute!  :embarrassed:

Yesterday I was listening to a top Playboy photog on the Twit Photo podcast. He happened to say that most people are fairly straight figured and indicated that much of the curviness you see in the magazine comes from models posing in uncomfortably contorted positions. Then I recalled having seen a couple of playmates at a car show years ago and noting how skinny (not curvy) they looked to me.

But, hey-- we can all have a curvy look if we want to. That's what fashion is for. Emphasize what you've got and de-emphasize what you don't.

I'm 170lbs, 5ft 10".  My current measurements are 38-33-37.  I am pre HRT and due to start next month.  I want to be curvy :D  It would make me feel so feminine.  I have been at the gym working out a couple of times a week and doing as much cardio as possible.  I have been using the "stair climber" to add tone and a little extra muscle to my thighs and bum (hence 37" hip).  I would love to loose an inch or two from my chest (muscle) and 5" from my waist if possible.  I guess i will have to keep my fingers cross for HRT and continue to follow my diet and exercise programme.

Becoming more athletic as I continue to lose weight, certainly will never be skinny unless I go on a strict diet, I'd call my new shape as being shapely haha.

skinny and curvy both can look fantastic.  I'm liking my combination of athletic and curvy at the moment.
