So today I had too whore myself out play the man part.
Sevans mom is in town and she wanted to have dinner with her mom and the two of us. This requires me to butch it up for grandma. Not that she doesn't know I am trans and full time.
She knows this. Yet she insists that I play the boy part around her.
I would bitch but...she is my land lord and we have an unbelieveably low rent as a result, and she is otherwise a very generous and kind person. As evidenced in our 'rental agreement' which basicaly is we have this home free and clear so long as we kiss grandma's ass in the fashion she desires. And honestly, she almost never calls that marker in.

Anyways, I haven't been in mens clothes in a long time so it felt wierd. Then there was the matter of the binder...
How the hell do the transmen survive in one of those things day in and day out day after day? I was dieing in 2 hours.
Durring part of the conversation I almost screamed out 'I am a girl damn it'! I did not, but it almost came out.
Then of course...I had to go pee while we are at the restaurant. Yep, right into the mens room. Almost had a melt down in there but maintained my composure. Was rather grossed out by the stench of the urinals. Glad I don't have to deal with that place except the rare outing with grandma. /shivers

So who else is in similar situation where you gotta play the old part once in a blue moon to maintain your living situation or to maintain the peace in the family?

I doubt anyone can not feel sympathy for you nor have seen themselves in your situation.

But look at it this way, you are asked to play a part, for one evening, for the benefit of your partner not to mention your home. I hope you don't think I'm being blunt here but if it keeps the old bird happy, in your position, I'd wear a donkey constume and bark.

I mean, treat it for the joke it is.

Most people would love to be themselves to the world. The reality is, few of us ever will. If I told everyone what I really think I'd probably have half the UK wanting to crucify me.

Just remember to stock up on some indigenstion remedies and might be a good idea to have a small packet of those suckables in your pocket. Apart from that, you've got a few hours of discomfort to keep some old biddy happy.

Hey i butched up and cut my hair to see my son i haven't seen since he was 7 and he is now 20 and he decided he didn't want to see me after all.. 

His mom though is now going through chemo and well i pray she makes it because then he will have lost us both..

Hi Cynthialee, I really feel for you on this one. I'm out with a small circle of people and it is slowly growing. But what on earth is the right thing to do with the in-laws?

Coming out is one thing when it only impacts myself, but when it would likely lead to some serious problems for my wife's relationships with her own family then I have some serious doubts about what the right choice is. We do not have the same reliance in terms of being a landlord, but it is certainly the case that if there ever was a financial emergency they would be our first and best port of call. Truth is, if it was simply a matter of finances then I could accept that cost. I could not accept destroying my wife's relationships with her rather conservative parents.

I'm not going to hide it, but I don't think the direct route is going to work either. I think that I'll just let them see the transition itself over time without hiding it. I think that if they see that we are happy and well-adjusted then they will come around. But, who knows, maybe that is the wrong way to go about it too.

It must be a challenge to square the circle for you. I'm sure I'm not helping here, but maybe it helps knowing that you aren't the only one in this boat. I certainly can appreciate how frustrating is.... Wishing you well.

I'm with LordKat, you are only barely getting away with the men's room and I'm not sure I would even try. In time, I don't think it will matter what grandma wants. She'll either get you as you are (like your avatar) which seems a lot softer or people are going to see you as a very masculine lesbian. Either way, you won't be using the little boys room.

Grandma knows.
She knows I am full time and I have been in transition for 2 years.
She just has requested I be in male clothing when around her.

As for the mens room, I didnt want to hear it from grandma or grandpa if they saw me go into the ladies. So I sucked it up.

In this life you do what you have to do sometimes to make something work. Keeping a roof over your head is definitely important, and i think merits doing a little crossdressing to keep the peace.
