Sorry to be a bug and bring it up every year, but it is a very important issue to me, not only during October, but all year 'round...

Knowing folks who have died and others who have survived various types of cancer including breast cancer I can not help but feel concern... Not only does breast cancer effect cis women and their families, but transmen and transwomen are at risk as well

I'm not sure what I'll be able to do this year, my budget doesn't allow for much  :-\   But if you think about it, THINK PINK and buy stuff from companies that support breast cancer research or get involved in a fund raising event

What are you doing or planning to do?

*Having a bit of a cry*

NFL goes pink for breast cancer awareness

By The Associated Press | AP – 13 hrs ago

From coaches' caps to players' cleats and officials' whistles, the NFL went pink on Sunday.
In support of breast cancer awareness, the color will be worn on the field and on the sidelines during games throughout October. The league and its players collaborated with the American Cancer Society for an initiative reminding women 40 and older about the importance of having an annual mammogram.
Country star Martina McBride sang the national anthem flanked by dozens of breast cancer survivors before the Ravens' game in Baltimore on Sunday night against the New York Jets.
Footballs included pink ribbon decals, as did the padding for goal posts, and the color was splashed on fields all around the NFL.
There was a large pink bow in the middle of the field during the national anthem before New England's game at Oakland. Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was among many who had pink towels hanging from their waists.
Philadelphia's Michael Vick wore a padded pink glove on his bruised non-throwing right hand in the Eagles' game against San Francisco.
In San Diego, the Chargers had dashes of pink in the "San Diego" and "Chargers" that were painted in the end zones. Chargers nose tackle Antonio Garay took his tribute a step further, having a pink ribbon shaved into the left side of his head.

Cismen and transwomen can also get breast cancer. I'm mostly just wearing shirts that state this fact, as I don't have any money to donate.

My Doctor says to start self examinations of the breasts once a month now.  And I was worried about my prostate?  Prostate cancer will kill only 15% of males who have it and don't treat it.  It is a slow cancer.  Breast cancer kills nearly all who don't get treatment, and is a fast killer!  I will have to get screenings for both cancers anyway now once a year.  Even though both sides of my family has no history of breast cancer.  Reproductive?  Yes.  This risk was pondered long before I started to transisition.  This question is one to be pondered if you are going to be a M to F transitioner, your chances of breast cancer will increase as you start your HRT.
Cis-males are only 1% of all breast cancer cases.  There are virtually no data on transwomen nor the transmen who kept their breasts due to the small numbers of us out there and the privacy issues of those who did transisition fully, nor of the cis-males 68 and older who was treated with female HRT for the latter stages of prostate cancer.  Those older males died too quickly anyway.  We must be good to ourselves and our bodies more now than before we started to transisition.

Thanks Sis,

A very important point. Breast cancer survival is now quite good, but early detection is the key. Prostate survival is poor because most men do not get checked. OK a finger up the bum my not be a lot of fun, but whatever gender you are if you have a prostate and are over 40-50 get an annual check. Only takes a couple of minutes.

Also PLEASE, get a faecal blood check every year if you are over 50, OR if there is any sign of blood from your anus. Bowel cancer is very treatable, if caught early. Being too embarrassed to live seems strange.

Prostate and colon cancer is no joke, it can and will kill you if not detected and treated... I just turned 50 last week and plan to get checked out in the near future

I just hope the Dr. doesn't catch on that I like getting fingered there  >:-)
