So I've posted a couple times before about all the problems I've with my shoulder.  2 dislocations in 2 years, a trip to the emergency room, and Physical Therapy.  I've also been seeing a sports medicine orthopaedic specialist, who after an MRA (basically an MRI, but they injected this contrast stuff into the joint first that helps show any soft tissue damage) referred me to a shoulder surgeon.   They found a tear in the labrum, basically the lip of cartilege around the shoulder socket that helps hold the joint in place, and said its likely that I also have some small tears and damage to the ligaments.  He recomended arthroscopic shoulder stabilization surgery called the bankhart procedure, since my chances of dislocating it a third time are pretty much guaranteed now.

Since I'm already kinda paranoid about that shoulder, and wondering when i'll dislocated it again, I think im going to have the surgery, probably in early November if they can get me in then since that will work the best with my job.

But any way, the amusing part.   He said that this type of injury, and this type of surgery is way more common in males.  I'm sure its all coincidence, but I keep wondering if there is more to being trans than just the brain.  I realize its kind of weird, but I think that fact is kind of cool.

That's awful to hear about your shoulder, but I know how you feel. I have lax ligaments and my shoulder frequently dislocates about half-way on a near daily basis, it's awful, so I can't imagine how it would feel to have it completely dislocate. But if you get the surgery, good luck!

Actually, that is kind of fascinating, and I've wondered the same thing too.

Weird dude. It's probably more common in males because more men typically get dislocated shoulders from rough sports and when you dislocate or brake something once the odds increase of it happening again.

I know what you mean regardless though. I had retinal detachment when I was 17 and it's apparently more likely to happen in males. But it's really from me having high myopia yet my identical twin sister has the same thing but she's never had retinal detachment so far. Hahah so that's what makes it coincidental.
The story is the same, I've just personalized the name.
