Wow lolyup it was Houston! Yeah our yard flooded pretty often, and sometimes the basement did too. It seemed normal at the time. xD

We lived in Galveston too at some point, but my memories of that are pretty vague.

We got those little treasures imported and they are settling in very well, unfortunately. We get more deaths from peoples responses to insect bites and ant stings that we do from shark attacks. But it is less 'sexy' to die from an ant sting ::)

I knew it!  Basement? That's why they don't have many in that town! My first "bite" was when my family lived in Texas City, by the Dike. Okay, I'll get out of the "wabbit hole"

Can't forget the giant toad migrations.

Y'all Aussies musn't be livin' right to be gettin' hit wit all these pestilences.

I won't mention the giant wild pigs clear cuttin' a swath through Dixie and on north to the Mason-Dixon line.

"I have always wanted to have a neighbor just like you,
I've always wanted to live in a neighborhood with you.

So let's make the most of this beautiful day,
Since we're together, we might as well say,
Would you be mine?
Could you be mine?
Won't you be my neighbor?" - Fred Rogers

Well, just leave it to me to take a shot in the dark and hit a painful childhood memory right on the head! Tracey is the Queen of putting her foot in her mouth!

No no no, don't blame yourself Tracey! But let's get back on track...okay?

For me this liferaft has meant a chance to check in with people and steady myself before going out into the world every day. A way to steel myself and be reminded that I'm not a freak and it's not my job to hide so everyone else can be comfortable. Etc.

There's also some run of the mill goodness that might be available in any forum. You guys are humans who are not berating me over some new debt I've incurred, or chewing me out about what my kid's been up to, or hitting me, or yelling at me. You have your own problems just like I do, and when I come here I don't attract confusion and derision like I often do in public (some of that is cuz of my kid, but still).

This is a safe place, where we don't have to keep any normal things secret just because so often people think those things are not normal.
