LOL and I just wasted an hour+ of my life watching videos of cute animals and then some how ending up watching water park mishaps.  :-\

That was really cool I kinda want one now.

I was kinda thinking I could rent out my son. He's super cute and cool and all. That way you could have him for the day and do stuff but not really have to take care of him long term. Than others could have the fun of being a parent but not all the extra crap that goes with it at times.

Plus he's old enough so you don't have to change diapers and stuff. You would just have to help with homework on school nites. He's so good he will even help clean your house. He loves to help with chores.

Yeah I should rent him out.

How do you get him to help with the cleaning? *is so envious* When I ask the kidlet to help out I get whining and 'it's no fair, I have to do EVERYTHING around here'. I swear you'd think she was 15, not 7. I'm hoping she's getting it all out of her system now, and her teen years will be a breeze.

I started as soon as he could walk. Made a game of it to help out. Tons and tons of telling how much help he is and what a great job he's doing. Now he's helping with his laundry and I tell him how much of a big kid he is for it. He's been such a helper he used to get fussed at by the pre school teachers for not letting other kids do stuff. Helps I tell him there is some chores I could only get done if he helps.

I always give my daughter some nominal way to help, even if it's not helpful. Just to keep the habit, and to let her feel responsible and an important member of the family.

Things to keep in mind. :) This parenting business is hard, though I think I manage okay most of the time. At some point we need to discuss the whole transitioning thing, I'm just not entirely sure how to go about it. We've kind of touched on the theme every now and then, but nothing specific. It's cool though when she calls me dad, then laughs and says 'I mean mom'.

8 year olds rule!!  ;D

Sindo yes parenting is hard no matter how you go about it. Just keep a positive outlook and things will go that way. I'm happy for you that your kidlet will call you dad. Its a start and like Felix said once they sense you're more happy things will get easier.

I wish there were more single father based programs out there. Guess since there prob aren't as many of us but still. We need the help just as much as the moms.
