Subject:
I feel I'm being jerked around by my doctor. – Or my doctor may be sincere.
I have looked all over the Internet about the hormone prescription my doctor prescribed me. – Conj Estrogen xx MG (a red pill) taken once a day.
But, all I can find on the Internet is 'that' is for menopausal women!
Is my doctor jerking me around?

Sorry, we have a site policy not to quote dosages, so I've edited yours out.

Generally speaking, the estrogen pills trans women get prescribed are primarily intended for women going through menopause or after - to supplement low estrogen levels - so it's the same thing, and for a similar purpose, to raise your estrogen level. The dosage your doctor gives you will depend on your original estrogen level and how high s/he wants to raise it.

Did you have base blood levels taken before you started on E? And more recently to see how the levels have changed?

   I checked into my records ...and, yes ...I had a base blood test before starting on E.

Through your reply, I feel much more convinced that my relationship between my doctor and I is aboveboard.

I went through 2 years of piles of doctors that just jerked me around with piles of mere 'appointments', and still wouldn't give me E.

I've been on E for 1 year now. And there 'is' results.

Reading as much as you can is very important. HRT and SRS are literally life-changing events.

If you don't have time, make time. If you're planning on going the HRT route, unless your house is on fire and falling down around you it's unlikely there is *anything* more important than learning about HRT and related transsexual information.

Menopausal women have lowered amounts of estrogen in their system, that's why docs give them those kinds of meds. (That's also why they sell so many "phytoestrogens" in drug stores "to alleviate symptoms of menopause--hot flashes, irritability, etc)

Well. I live 24/7 female.
The life changing event of 'the surgery' won't change me, except I'll then be able to have sex.

If you're planning on going the HRT route...

I've already mentioned that I've been on the HRT route for 1 year now.

Why should I learn about HRT? - I'm trusting the doctor should know the proper application of HRT drugs.

There are NO drugs of any kind specifically for transsexuals - it simply is not worth the cost of proving and licensing them for the relatively few of us there are.
Therefore any drugs you are given will be "used off-label" and originally intended for other purposes.
e.g. hormone pills will be intended for post-menopausal women, most anti-androgens were developed to treat testosterone driven cancer etc etc.

So it does not mean that drugs you are given are unsuitable - you are never going to find transsexuals mentioned on manufacturers leaflets etc
