God forbid anyone infringe upon the mantras of a man of Ayn Rand. Seriously though having so many clinics shut down as needless charity by both public and private officials is a major problem. I cannot think of a better way to drive people to self medicate than to leave all official channels too expensive, I do no expose people give out dosage information, but we do need to do more to actually help eachother find cheap qualified help and not just go -pleh, go see your local specialist like everyone else.

For what it's worth, the policy, as listed in a sticky on the HRT page is:

C. Discussing dosages is strongly discouraged to prevent information obtained on this site from being used to self medicate.

I emphasized the key phrase to point out it is not a prohibition.  Nevertheless, the rationale behind it is sound, for a number of reasons.

Not sure what I missed that a post had to be deleted, but it should be remembered that a lot of people claim to be doctors, professors, lawyers, and lots of other things. Even here on Susans. Good rule of thumb: Anyone who tells you they have too collage degrees doesn't. Hugs, Devlyn

That's why this site exists.

You can ask for help to find cheaper doctors without asking for dosage tips and DIY tips.

I have helped people find LGBT friendly jobs and colleges. I have helped someone find a therapist who did price adjustments according to the patient's income. I have posted information on jobs that includes SRS in their job package.

Before you rail the site for not doing it's job or doing people injustice for not allowing DIY dosage information, you should stop and look around and read the countless of threads where people have helped others.

The restriction on talking about dosages is entirely to do with Legal Liability, if you want to moan about it, blame the overly litigious society that America and many other places have become..

Besides which, as had been pointed out, dosage info is fairly useless.. A dose that is fine for 1 person, may be useless for another. The important numbers are your levels, which can only be determined by blood tests and someone who is trained to read the results.. Because guess what? You need to know what more than your E and T levels are..

I would rather blame the people who are to blame.

The US has a constitutionally protected freedom of speech that apply's to EXACTLY this subject.

There are plenty of forums out there where you can discuss what dosage of heroin you should be doing... this has nothing to do with what the admins 'can' do, just what they're willing to risk.

I don't want to risk my membership, I've gotten close to being banned over this topic before, so I will say this as politely as possible.

I believe the admins here have made a personal decision, which is in fact their right to make, that they would rather prohibit discussion of a potentially beneficial topic for harm reduction, because of their fear of litigation.

The most unfortunate part is that they believe or state they believe that this is about protecting people instead of protecting themselves. I would have far more respect for their decisions if they outright stated it was a liability thing not a protecting people thing.

Arguing that prohibiting dosage discussion is helping people is basically the same as abstinence only education. "Just say no".

At the end of the day, until there's a change of management, this is the way it is, and if you don't want to get banned you simply have to abide by it.

Hon, maybe you should take a peek at the rules, too. Publicly protesting the staff is another taboo. Hugs, Devlyn

I wasn't protesting, I was stating the situation as unemotionally as possible as I perceive it.

I did not tell people to rebel, to post dosages anyway, I was explaining the rules and the reasons for them as I understand it.

I know you might not have been referring to me, but I feel I should state my position, I've gotten in trouble for overly charged posts on this subject before.
