“DOSAGES” – THE TABOO SUBJECT

Hi!

I thought I had a good idea!
...Register with a Transsexual site ...and have all that I am wondering about 'dispelled'!

But, oh no ..groan ...the door is shut in my face 'again'! – Milligram dosages are not allowed to be talked about!

This restricted expression in milligram dosages on Transsexual sites is just plain silly.
I am a law abiding person. – And I'm not about to go out on the street and get dubiously milligramed street hormones.
I respect a doctor's assessment. – But I would like to confirm that my doctor is not giving me a placebo ...just for a doctor's monetary advantage in applying 'appointments'.
In that case ...I want to know, so I can know to look for another doctor.

I have been on what is termed HRT (I HATE acronyms) "Hormone Replacement Therapy" for 1 year now.
'In other words' I'm getting Spironolactone & Conjugated Estrogen prescribed by my doctor.

I'm just wondering if the dosage is right for the Conjugated Estrogen.
I've looked on the internet ...and all I can find for the dosage, is that I am receiving the lowest dosage of Conjugated Estrogen ...which is normally prescribed to menopausal women.

Simple alleviation of my doubts through questioning on a Transsexual site is much more preferable, because it took me 2 years to find the doctor that I have.
Looking for another doctor would be 'again' a horrendous monumental task.

The decision was made by Susan not to list suggested doses so it would not seem as if we support Self Medication.  These are the rules here, abide by them, accept them.  They are not going to change just for you.

Now, we all know that doseage information is available all over the web, that's fine.  Let them show what they feel is correct.  The problem is those are averages that people seem to be taking, they do not take into effect your own personal medical history.

If you don't trust what your doctor is giving you, you have no choice but to try and get a second opinion (from a doctor) I am not a doctor and have had no medical training (neither have the majority of our members) asking me or them for medical advice is just looking for misinformation.

You know that I am not self medicating.
How could I possibly be looking for misfortune? - I only use certified medical doctors.

Why don't you just ask your doctor what the range of dosage is? Print out what you've found online, take it and compare to what he/she says.

If you're getting the lowest prescribed dose, ask why. Ask for a higher dose, if there's nothing contraindicating. (I'm not a medical person, I just like using that big word  )

I've already gone through the 'questioning of the dosage' with my doctor, Beth.
I'm just looking for confirmation that the lowest dosage - which is normally used for menopausal women - is also used for Transsexual transition.

I'm sorry but I have to say it, the red text and overuse/choice of emoticons is giving me the creeps...  It's hard to take your complaint seriously.

I really don't have a very good endo either, but I've found a great GP in my area who's willing to check serum levels and other things that my endo should be checking.  Turns out that my E was too low...  and folate levels were also low. 

This might be the route you should attempt.  Don't replace your endo, but rather find a GP that you are comfortable with who is willing to check things that your endo might not.  Hope this helps.

The dosage is irrelevant.
To achieve the appropriate levels, one person might be on two or three times the dosage another person is on.
What matters is how much of the hormone is circulating around your body and you will not learn that from reading other people's dosages. 
Get your bloods checked.

May not you, but others can see your dosage reports and then try it on their own without any supervision. And dosages are different with everyone; blood results usually dictates the strengths of dosages and what types of medications.

Talking about different Doctors is great. I have nothing against that.

Your doctor can answer that question for you. If she or he cannot, then I would encourage you to seek a doctor who could best answer your questions in relation to your lab results. The issue about posting your dosages here is the fact that we are not licensed Endocrinologists with access to your lab results. If we did this and an accident happened, the site could be held liable for offering medical advice without certification of a trained professional.

I agree that using a trans site to find a network of doctors is a great idea but that really has nothing to do with comparing dosages.

I'm happy. – And I don't see the need to make everything boringly dismal all the time.
'At times' I will also add some color (alleviation) to my words.
But not as a fool.
I have been Government evaluated as 'extremely intelligent'. And I'm probably twice the age (or more) of most of you.

Besides which, as had been pointed out, dosage info is fairly useless.. A dose that is fine for 1 person, may be useless for another. The important numbers are your levels, which can only be determined by blood tests and someone who is trained to read the results.. Because guess what? You need to know what more than your E and T levels are..
