How many of you have taken out a life insurance policy on yourself out of the fear of being killed for being under the trans umbrella?

Sadly, we still get murdered for it. Its a big concern of mine, and I want to make sure if it does happen, that my family won't be stuck with the financial cost of my death. Apparently, buying the accidental death option may cover homicide. Its something I'm going to call CPP about, for sure.

I have life insurance, but it isn't because of anything specific. I have minimal burial expenses as I will be cremated and placed in a National Cemetery alongside my father. Hugs, Devlyn

Its sure not a concern for me. When I look at the % of trans people who get killed while NOT involved in dangerous activities (like playing the -picking up straight guys at the clubs without them knowing- game or being a sex worker etc) it seems no worse than for most people, at least where I live. I feel I am much more likely to die in a car wreck than anything related to being trans.

I do not get too concerned about transphobic people. Prevention may be the key to personal safety. Avoid people and situations that may put you in danger. There is safety in numbers. Try to be with friends when out. I am in more danger merely crossing the street. It seems as though there is always some idiot driver with a cellphone in one hand and picking thier nose with the other while flying through the crosswalk.

Also, isn't cremation pretty cheap? I'm pretty sure my death will leave my daughter with fewer bills than will whatever kills me.

Tip: just because something can happen and has happened, doesn't mean it's likely to happen. There have been a small few cases that got a lot of press but it is not common at all.

I plan to be bronzed, set on a pedestal, and hooked up to a water fountain system, forever tinkling.

I should have added "and you are the sole or primary breadwinner for your loved ones".  Otherwise, it sounds as if you're gambling on your chances of survival and see a win situation for your loved one's because your chance of survival is deceptively low, assuming you are young and healthy.  At any rate, this is not a good way of thinking.  If you are thinking this way, you should have different questions.

I don't plan on taking out an insurance policy in case I am killed for being trans.  By the time I transition I will be dependant on no one and no one will be dependant on me.  I have a higher chance of dying in a car wreck or tripping and breaking my neck.  I prefer not to be cremated but in reality I don't care what happens to my body afterwards.

To reference your other post, no I do not have a lot of money. I work part-time in a grocery store.
To this one, yes I am the primary breadwinner of my household. There is no way they could afford it if something, ANYTHING happened to me, trans related or not. I realize that I may sound neurotic, but I feel that this path is something to be prepared for entirely. I'm not going to try to fool myself into believing that there is NO risk at all.
