The world's first openly transgender mayor, Councillor Tony Briffa, faces allegations of serious misconduct and was challenged today to face a tribunal by colleague Councillor Peter Hemphill.

Cllr Briffa called a press conference last week to ask Cllr Hemphill to drop his allegations to save taxpayers the costs of a tribunal. Cllr Hemphill responded by challenging Cllr Briffa to attend the tribunal without 'expensive' lawyers.

If this was happening in the UK, I would suggest it is a set up. Sending threatening messages is a serious criminal offence. Emails can always be traced to source. It is a matter for the police.

But this is Australia, so I just don't know, but it is surprising that it isn't being handled by the police.
