Hey guys!

It's been two and a half weeks since I had an ovariohysterectomy (ostensibly for endometriosis, but my surgeon was super trans-positive). It was a Single-incision Laparotomy, so instead of the usual two or three 3-cm ports cut through the abdominal wall for a regular endoscopic abdominal surgery, I had one small incision in my belly button and one to detach the cervix. I was able to walk out of the hospital same-day, and when I woke up the day after surgery, the pain was actually pretty tolerable even with no meds. Right now the only visible remains of the surgery are a slight difference in the shape of my navel and four little red dots from the sutures used to tie equipment in place. I highly recommend this kind of surgery if you can find a surgeon with experience. The only downside is you have to dry your belly button with a hairdryer after showering until the incision heals (to prevent infection), and it makes you feel a bit silly.

I am so incredibly happy with the results and so thankful I was able to have this surgery. I HAVE NO UTERUS OR OVARIES ANYMORE! WOOOHOOO! *happydance*  ;D

Thanks guys!

I stopped the hairdryer shenanigans after two weeks because the incision seemed fully closed to me.

sils.com/hysterectomy/

I had mine done through an HMO (Kaiser), so knowing the surgeon's name is probably not helpful unless you are a member of that HMO.
