Endos in Central PA

Hello everyone. I know I've posted about this before, but I'm posting again because I really don't have any other options. It's been almost 6 months since I completed gender therapy, but I live in central Pennsylvania and I cannot find an endocrinologist anywhere within 100 miles. I was wondering if anyone knew of a gender-friendly endocrinologist in the Williamsport/Danville area. I've tried calling and emailing all sorts of endocrinologists, and none of them will work with me.

I can't have an endocrinologist close by either; it's 2.5 hours' worth of road away. But since you only need to see them once per 3-4 months, it's not the end of the world.

I can't believe you're let on your own like that. Can't your general practitioner, gender therapist, psychiatrist, psychologist, basically ANYONE refer you to a specialist? Sigh...

Hopefully, those endos who "won't work with you" won't do so because they did not have enough experience in the field, not because of personal beliefs... If they're decent people and it's the former, perhaps you could call them back and ask if they know of a nearby colleague who is versed in trans issues.

If you're entirely out of options, perhaps you can find a general practitioner who will be supportive and trusting, and will agree to do some research, if they aren't trained in the area, to prescribe HRT to you. Or arrange a trip hours away to the closest endo you can find, even if it's really far. Annoying, but doable 4 times a year, I guess.

Unfortunately I do not have a general practitioner, psychiatrist, psychologist, or even a gender therapist. My gender therapist lives in Europe and thus has no knowledge of my area whatsoever. I have even contacted local therapists and such, and they know nothing about it either. I have a car and would be willing to drive long distances, but with my family still a bit uncomfortable with it, it's hard to just get out and go. I dunno, I guess I'll just have to wait and see if I can find anyone. Maybe I'll do more searching later on.

Try your local therapist and general practitioners.  My PCP was happy to monitor my HRT until we finally found a accepting endo locally.  I've also found that even though my therapist doesn't specialize in Gender Identity, she is very helpful.  I needed help with anxiety and depression not someone to tell me I had GID because I already knew that.  I'd rather have a skilled, friendly, and accepting therapist that is willing to try than a person stuck in a particular mindset.

Yup, I think that talking to the general practitioners you can find, asking if they either know an endo who would help or are willing to work with you until you get one is your best bet.
