That FBI site says only 7 murders happened from hate violence in 2010, but I know there were more than 7 transgender people killed in the US that year.
This reminds me how the captain of the youth division told me there were no bullying incidents in Portland public schools a few months into the current school year. That just means none were reported to the higher authorities. It's hard to even guess at stuff like this, where so much involves stigma and hearsay and high emotion.

You're right, there's an enormous number of variables and problems with accurate statistical measurement of things like this.

But a lack of evidence can't be used as evidence of something. And if the numbers aren't there they aren't there.

Everyone's opinions are their own, and everyone's entitled to them.

Wow! What a pot I have stirred... never again...

What we can conclude from this is that there are ways to protect yourself, and we have to be aware of our surroundings. At the end of the day, it's your life, and we are the only ones who can reliably protect ourselves.
